The Beatles gathered at The Casbah and formally agreed that Brian could act as their manager. He immediately set about changing their stage-act. John remembered: “We were in a daydream until he came along. We had no idea what we were doing. Seeing our marching orders on paper made it all official. He was trying to clean our image up. He told us we’d never get past the door of a good place. He’d tell us that jeans were not particularly smart and could we possibly manage to wear proper trousers. We respected his views.
