First days filming for the Magical Mystery Tour movie. This was the very first project that Apple got involved in, and came under the supervision of Denis O’Dell, who had been hired to head-up Apple Films. Hunter Davies recalled: “They had been turning down script after script, and eventually came to the conclusion that they should write their own script, and perhaps even make the film themselves. But if they were to do that, then it would be best to do a TV film first – so they could find out how you did it.” Unfortunately, now that Brian had died, they had no one to properly plan and prepare the movie.
