Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

They played another show at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton, Wallasey later in the day.

The Beatles played a gig with Little Richard at the Tower Ballrooms, and bumped into Pete Best (who was now playing with Lee Curtis And The All-Stars). Little Richard waxed-lyrical about them, saying “Man, those Beatles are fabulous! If I hadn’t seen them I’d never have dreamed they were white. The have a real authentic negro sound.” What Pete said, however, cannot be printed for legal reasons. (Kids might be reading.)

In his autobiography, ‘Beatle! The Pete Best Story’, he says: “I only saw the Beatles by chance two or three times after the split. We never acknowledged each other or exchanged a word. The first time was at the Granada TV session at the Cavern (22nd August 1962). The second was when the Lee Curtis outfit were on the same bill as the Beatles at the Cavern (sic). …
