Recording session for the TV show ‘Spotlight South-West’. This show was broadcast on 13th September (BBC1) and featured interviews with John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

The highlight of this day was when they got stuck under a bridge. The local news read: “In torrential rain, the 62-seater coach had to reverse across a grassy bank and back up a 1-in-4 hill, past angry motorists all trying to get to Widdecome fair. The coach had already driven past a notice, which warned ‘Narrow Bridge – unsuitable for heavy traffic. Maximum width 7ft 10ins.’ All the mystic signs, stars and lettering decorating their bus started to fall off, leaving a fluttering, sodden trail of eagerly collected souvenirs. Beatle Paul McCartney ran back to collect a huge armful of ‘magic’ stickers and said, ‘It looks as if it’s beyond repair now.’ Back at the hotel, where they stopped for tea, John Lennon completed the de-magicking by pulling off the tattered remains of the …
