The Beatles’ lawyer warned them that if they didn’t invest £2 million quick, then it would go straight to the taxman. So he advised them to start up a brand new company with their earnings (because corporate taxes were much lower than individual taxes). Alistair Taylor recalled: “He said, ‘Boys, there’s only one way you can reduce your tax bill, and that is if you put a plan forward by the 31st December, then you can get your tax reduced by about two shillings in the pound.’ So, we had to put our plans up. But we didn’t have to ‘follow’ the plan. All we had to do was put forward a legitimate business plan, and we could get our tax reduced. So, an executive board was formed, consisting of the four Beatles, Clive Epstein, Neil Aspinall, Pete Shotton, Peter Brown and myself.” Neil …
