John started writing his third book, and called it ‘John’s Diary – The Diary Of A Working Man’. His first entry read: “Got up. Went to work. Got Home. Went to bed.”

This was also the first day’s filming for the oft-delayed Get Back project. The ever-changing live-show had now been punted back to the end of January, which gave them a whole month to rehearse. Glyn Johns was called in to oversee the recording equipment and Michael Lindsay-Hogg handled the directing. They booked themselves into Twickenham Studios – the same place they did ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ in ’64 (and where Ringo was booked in to do ‘The Magic Christian’ at the end of the month). But my, how times had changed since ’64! Gone were the happy-go-lucky mop-tops that your mummy could love, and in were the pissed-off …
