Jane Asher appeared on ‘The Simon Dee Show’, and announced that her engagement to Paul was off. Apparently she came home early one day and found Paul in bed with Francie Schwartz, who turned up at Apple to pitch a film script. One of the dutiful Apple Scruffs tried to warn him that she was coming, but he was “otherwise engaged.” The next day Paul stormed into Apple HQ and tried to fire Jane’s brother, Peter Asher. But he was talked out of it by Ron Kass.

This had unfortunate repercussions for James Taylor – one of the few genuine talents that Apple signed up. He was being looked after by Peter Asher, and because he was now out of favour he was all but ignored for the rest of the year, prompting him to leave the label soon after. is not affiliated with or approved by The Beatles, Apple, MPL, EMI or Capitol Records.
