Before they could set off on the Johnny Gentle Tour, Paul had to somehow convince his dad that he had two weeks off school, whilst John and Stuart just bunked off college (John never went back). But this was the big time, and a slapped backside was worth it. They even gave themselves some dumb sounding stage-names: Paul became ‘Paul Ramon’, Stuart became the mystical ‘Stuart de Stael’ and George re-christianed himself Carl (after his hero, Carl Perkins). But unfortunately their dreams of super stardom hit the buffers pretty quick, because it was a total disaster from start to finish.
