John, Paul and George attended the Maharishi’s lecture at the Hilton Hotel, London. Patti Harrison had already been a member since February, and finally convinced George to drag his mates along. Pete Shotton recalled: “We each received a personal mantra in exchange for a clean white handkerchief, three pieces of fruit, and, last but not least, a full week’s wages. In my case, this only worked out to about £25, but it must have been a tiny fraction of John’s fee.
