John and Yoko held a press conference in London, before jetting off to the Bahamas.

John: We’ve been trying to get into the States to do a peace mission and get visas. It doesn’t look like we’re getting them so far. So we’re going to the Bahamas to sort of blast off from there and to do a Cuba. For instance, we’ve written to Bertrand Russell to try to get him to help us. The behind-the-scenes concerning the visas we’ll let you know in the Bahamas. We want to go and do a peace mission. We want to give acorns to Nixon, and that’s all we want to do, but someone doesn’t want us to do it. So the Bahamas are the best deal we could think of.
