Recording session for the radio show ‘The World This Weekend’ This show was transmitted on 26th October (BBC Radio 4) and featured an interview with Paul McCartney.

John’s second solo single ‘Cold Turkey’ was released in the UK. Due to the dodgy subject matter and Plastic Ono moniker it didn’t do as well as expected, “but you have to realise that there’s a peculiar situation,” he said, “in that if ‘Cold Turkey’ had the name ‘Beatles’ on it, then it would probably have made the No. 1 position… It’s got both me and Ringo on it, and yet half of the songs on ‘Abbey Road’ – I’m not on them. I’m not even on half of the songs on the ‘White Album!’ It’s got to the situation where if you have the name ‘Beatles’ on it, then it sells. So you get to think, ‘What are we selling?’ Do they want to buy it because it’s worth it, or just because it says ‘Beatles’? George is in the same position as me. And I know he’s got songs that he’s been trying to get on …
