The Beatles spent a night down the Whiskey A Go-Go. This small nightclub, situated at 8901 Sunset Boulevard, has still got a huge reputation today. (It’s where The Doors started out as a club band in ’66). Larry Kane described the fun in his book ‘Ticket To Ride’: “Management had been tipped off, along with the radio stations, so the place was packed. Jayne Mansfield and John arrived first, after an interesting ride over…” (One of the other reporters said they were “making out like kids” in the back of the seat!) They finally settled in a cosy booth and joined the others: “A photographer was trying to manoeuvre into a good position,” said Kane. “And George’s anger finally erupted, and he threw his drink at the man.” The photo surfaced in the paper next day, with an action shot of …
