Recording session at EMI Studios No. 1 (14:00–17:00) during which they recorded All You Need Is Love.

There was also a recording session for the TV show ‘Our World’ at the EMI Studios. The programme was broadcast live (BBC1). They played All You Need Is Love.

The Our World broadcast. An estimated 200 million people tuned in, and the BBC billed it as “a live satellite link-up… linking five continents… and bringing man face to face with mankind.” Eighteen countries took part: Belgium; Bulgaria; Denmark; Ireland; Finland; Luxembourg; Monaco; the Netherlands; Norway; Portugal; Romania; Switzerland and Yugoslavia. The Soviet Union, Poland, East Germany, Czechoslovakia and Hungary were all supposed to take part as well, but they dropped out at the last minute (because of Cold War politics), but the USSR suggested depositing the tape in the UN archives for posterity. The 125 minute film was split into six sections: ‘This Moment’s World’; ‘The Hungry World’; ‘The Crowded World’; ‘Physical Excellence’; ‘Artistic Excellence’ and ‘The World Beyond’. …
