John and Yoko set up shop in room 1742 of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Montreal. This proved to be the final round of bed-events, which was just as well, because the press were becoming increasingly bolshy by now and started taking the piss out of their politics. They’d had two months to think up trick questions and caught them out at every opportunity. Whilst all of this was going on John was attempting to defuse the Berkeley campus riots. He got them on the radio and pleaded: “There’s no cause worth losing your life over, brother. I don’t believe there is any cause worth getting shot for! You can do better by moving on to another city or moving to Canada. Go anywhere – then they’ve got nothing to attack and nobody to point their finger at. Sing ‘Hare Krishna’ or something, but …
