The Beatles signed a new nine-year contract with EMI giving them more control over their future releases – especially the American ones, and they no longer allowed Capitol to mess around with their running orders. Brian also secured them a $2 million dollar bonus, and upped their royalty rate to 10% (when the normal rate was 3 or 4%).

Although this deal was pretty good, The Beatles were becoming seriously pissed off with the way that Brian was handling their business affairs. They were nowhere near as rich as everyone thought, because the original contract that they’d signed way back in 1962 was so fucking stingy. And to make matters worse, they had recently been told by The Rolling Stones, that they were on far less money than they were, despite selling loads more records! …
