First days filming for ‘The Magic Christian’, starring Ringo, Peter Sellers, Richard Attenborough, Yul Brynner, Roman Polanski, Raquel Welch, Spike Milligan and John Cleese. It was part written by (the then unknown) Monty Python stars John Cleese and Graham Chapman, but the main part was fashioned by Terry Southern (who had written ‘Barbarella’, ‘Dr. Strangelove’ and ‘Easy Rider’). Sellers played the part of eccentric millionaire Sir Guy Grand, who was desperately trying to get rid of all his money. Ringo played his son, Youngman Grand. The final scene had Sellers stirring bank-notes into a huge vat of sewage, with businessmen diving in and fishing it out.
