Recording session for the radio show ‘Teenager’s Turn – Here We Go’ at the Playhouse Theatre This show was transmitted on 8th March (BBC Light Programme). They played Dream Baby.

The Beatles first gig in suits. Brian took them round to Beno Dorn’s in Birkenhead to get them kitted out, and Alistair Taylor said: “We took them to a tailor to be measured for their mohair suits. I remember taking the famous ferry across the Mersey and Brian and I must have looked like a couple of plain clothes policeman escorting four dangerous criminals. They cost £40 each, which Brian paid, of course.”

Much has since been made of Brian’s ‘tinkering’, and accusations have been levelled at McCartney for selling-out. But John was as guilty as anyone of perpetrating this myth. The truth was that they were so desperate for fame around this time that they would have gone along with ‘anything’ Brian told them. They would have danced round in a couple of fuckin’ tu-tuís if it landed …
