They played another show at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton, Wallasey later in the day.

Brian started firing off letters to all and sundry, and offered EMI first refusal on the Beatles. He even had the balls to suggest they’d already had a meeting with Polydor. (Which wasn’t ‘entirely’ untrue, because they signed a short-term contract with Tony Sheridan’s manager in June.) But it took a lot of time and follow-up calls before he even got a reply, and he soon discovered that he wasn’t nearly as important down in London as he was up in Liverpool. There were over 300 rock groups in Liverpool around this time – all looking for a record deal. But Brian had one major advantage over them – his record empire had now swollen to an impressive nine stores, stocking over half a million records, so he carried a fair amount of clout.
