Their famous photo shoot in Central Park, followed by a gaggle of 400 excited women. George was suffering from the flu at the time, so he stayed behind at the Plaza. Neil Aspinall had to stand in for him during ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ rehearsals. Sullivan asked him if George was alright, and he replied: “He’d better be, or I’m putting a wig on myself!” George recalled: “I eventually made the theatre and the band did a lot of rehearsals for the sound people. They kept going into the control room and checking out the sound. Finally, when they got the balance between the instruments and the vocals right, they marked the boards with chalk, and everyone broke for lunch.
