Performance at the Star-Club in Hamburg, West Germany, as part of their Star-Club residency.

Brian visited the HMV shop at 363 Oxford Street to have the Decca audition tapes turned into acetates, and got chatting with Jim Foy. Foy was suitably impressed with the Lennon/McCartney originals, and suggested that he give Syd Coleman, the head of Ardmore & Beechwood (EMI’s music publishers), a visit on the top floor. Coleman then went on to arrange a meeting with the A&R man at Parlophone – George Martin.

[N.B.: This friendly favour earned Coleman the publishing rights to ‘Love Me Do’ in October ’62.] is not affiliated with or approved by The Beatles, Apple, MPL, EMI or Capitol Records.
