The Beatles’ diary -- December 1967

December 1967

Sunday, 3rd December

Ringo flew to Rome to film his part in the X-rated ‘Candy’, which starred Ewa Aulin (a former Miss Teen Sweden). He played the part of Emmanuel – a Mexican gardener who spent the whole film trying to get Candy into bed. Lucky old Ringo got his first-ever screen kiss, and even tries having sex with her on a pool table! (Way’d it go, Ringo!) But despite a stellar cast, including Marlon Brando, Richard Burton, James Coburn, Walter Matthau and the boxer Sugar Ray Robinson, it was panned by the critics, and is best forgotten about.
