The fashion at this time was to look and sound like Elvis, so John grew a hefty pair of sideburns and started dressing up in teddy-boy gear. But then a friend told him that he had a record by Little Richard, who was even better than Elvis. “So we used to go round his house and listen to 78s. The record was ‘Long Tall Sally’,” said John. “And when I heard it, it was so great I couldn’t speak!” is not affiliated with or approved by The Beatles, Apple, MPL, EMI or Capitol Records.
