Thursday, 3rd January

Performance at the Two Red Shoes Ballroom in Elgin, Scotland.

Friday, 4th January

Performance at the Town Hall in Dingwall, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland.

Saturday, 5th January

Performance at the Museum Hall in Bridge of Allan, Scotland.

Sunday, 6th January

Performance at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Tuesday, 8th January

Recording session for the TV show ‘Roundup’ at the Theatre Royal. The programme was broadcast live (Scottish). They played Please Please Me.

Thursday, 10th January

Performance at the Grafton Rooms in Liverpool.

Brian signed a deal with Vee-Jay to start releasing Beatles singles in the States. This only happened because EMI's sister-company in the States -- Capitol -- failed to see the potential that was staring them in the face. But Brian still had high hopes of bringing them round, so his original deal with Vee-Jay was only for 'Please Please Me' and 'Ask Me Why'.

Friday, 11th January

Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

They played another show at the Plaza Ballroom in Old Hill, Dudley later in the day.

EMI released their second UK single: 'Please Please Me'. Their first single had been promoted by EMI's in-house company, Ardmore & Beechwood, but George Martin suggested trying Dick James Music. Brian also concentrated on getting the Beatles some publicity. But he wasn't much up on the ins and outs of advertising, so he asked Tony Barrow for his help.

Saturday, 12th January

Performance at the Invicta Ballroom in Chatham.

Sunday, 13th January

Recording session for the TV show ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’ at the Alpha Television Studios. This show was broadcast on 19th January (ABC). They played Please Please Me.

Whilst the Beatles were busy taping 'Please Please Me' for 'Thank Your Lucky Stars', they were spotted by Tony Barrow's mate, Andrew Loog Oldham. He immediately set about trying to blag a press-rep job off Brian.

Monday, 14th January

Performance at the Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port, Wirral, attended by 700 people.

Wednesday, 16th January

Recording session for the radio show ‘Here We Go’ at the Playhouse Theatre This show was transmitted on 25th January (BBC Light Programme). They played Chains, Please Please Me, Three Cool Cats and Ask Me Why.

A further session for ‘People And Places’ took place later in the day at the Granada TV Centre. The programme was broadcast live (Granada). They played Ask Me Why and Please Please Me.

Thursday, 17th January

Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

They played another show at the Majestic Ballroom in Birkenhead later in the day.

Friday, 18th January

Performance at the Floral Hall Ballroom in Morecambe.

Saturday, 19th January

Performance at the Town Hall Ballroom in Dodington, Whitchurch.

The Beatles got their first real exposure on national TV, by appearing in ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’.

Sunday, 20th January

Mal Evans' first day working for the Beatles. He used to work The Cavern Club door, turfing out all the little kids, but when Neil came down with a fever one day, he got the job of driving them to London. The Beatles now had two road managers -- Neil and Mal. Mal's job was to drive all the gear from place to place and set it up onstage. And Neil looked after the Beatles personally.

Monday, 21st January

Recording session for the radio show ‘The Friday Spectacular’ at the EMI House This show was transmitted on 25th January (Radio Luxembourg) and featured music and interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They played Please Please Me and Ask Me Why.

Tuesday, 22nd January

Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

There was also a recording session for the radio show ‘Pop Inn’ at the BBC Paris Studio This show was transmitted live (BBC Light Programme) and featured interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They played Please Please Me.

A further session for ‘Saturday Club’ took place later in the day at the Playhouse Theatre This show was transmitted on 26th January (BBC Light Programme). They played Some Other Guy, Love Me Do, Please Please Me, Keep Your Hands Off My Baby and Beautiful Dreamer.

A further session for ‘The Talent Spot’ took place later in the day at the BBC Paris Studio This show was transmitted on 29th January (BBC Light Programme). They played Please Please Me, Ask Me Why and Some Other Guy.

Wednesday, 23rd January

Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Thursday, 24th January

Performance at the Assembly Hall in Mold, Wales.

Friday, 25th January

Performance at the Co-operative Hall in Darwen.

Saturday, 26th January

Performance at the El Rio Dance Hall in Macclesfield.

They played another show at the King’s Hall in Stoke-on-Trent later in the day.

Sunday, 27th January

Performance at the Three Coins Club in Manchester.

Monday, 28th January

Performance at the Majestic Ballroom in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Wednesday, 30th January

Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Thursday, 31st January

Performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

They played another show at the Majestic Ballroom in Birkenhead later in the day.
