Performance at the Astoria Cinema in Finsbury Park, London, as part of their Christmas Show. They played Roll Over Beethoven, All My Loving, This Boy, I Wanna Be Your Man, She Loves You, Till There Was You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Money (That’s What I Want) and Twist And Shout.

The American TV show, ‘The Jack Paar Show’, played a short clip of the Beatles doing ‘She Loves You’, and thus became the first major American telly show to broadcast one of their performances.

Recording session for the radio show ‘The Public Ear’ This show was transmitted on 12th January (BBC Light Programme) and featured interviews with George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Performance at the Astoria Cinema in Finsbury Park, London, as part of their Christmas Show. They played Roll Over Beethoven, All My Loving, This Boy, I Wanna Be Your Man, She Loves You, Till There Was You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Money (That’s What I Want) and Twist And Shout.

There was also a recording session for the radio show ‘Saturday Club’ at the Playhouse Theatre This show was transmitted on 15th February (BBC Light Programme). They played All My Loving, Money (That’s What I Want), Hippy Hippy Shake, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Roll Over Beethoven, Johnny B. Goode and I Wanna Be Your Man.

Recording session for the TV show ‘Val Parnell’s Sunday Night At The London Palladium’ at the London Palladium. The programme was broadcast live (ATV). They played I Want To Hold Your Hand, This Boy, All My Loving, Money (That’s What I Want) and Twist And Shout.

Tuesday, 14th January

The Beatles flew to Paris to do eighteen concerts. The shows were shared with French chanteuse Sylvie Vartin and Trini Lopez. The French press were predictably aloof, and dismissed them as “juvenile delinquent has-beens.”

Wednesday, 15th January

Performance at the Cinéma Cyrano in Versailles, France, attended by 2,000 people.

The Capitol/Vee-Jay court case got underway with the judge slapping a temporary injunction on Vee-Jay’s catalogue whilst the case was being heard. This was a major blow for the little company, because Beatlemania was starting to rage around their ears and they were losing money every second of the day.

Performance at the Olympia Theatre in Paris, France. They played From Me To You, Roll Over Beethoven, She Loves You, This Boy, Boys, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Twist And Shout and Long Tall Sally.

Friday, 17th January

Performance at the Olympia Theatre in Paris, France. They played From Me To You, Roll Over Beethoven, She Loves You, This Boy, Boys, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Twist And Shout and Long Tall Sally.

‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ went to number one in America’s ‘Cashbox’ chart, sparking wild celebrations in the Beatles’ suite.
