Performance at the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, Spain (20:30), as part of their European Tour. They played Twist And Shout, She’s A Woman, I’m A Loser, Can’t Buy Me Love, Baby’s In Black, I Wanna Be Your Man, A Hard Day’s Night, Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby, Rock And Roll Music, I Feel Fine, Ticket To Ride and Long Tall Sally.

Saturday, 3rd July

Performance at the Plaza de Toros Monumental in Barcelona, Spain (22:45), as part of their European Tour. They played Twist And Shout, She’s A Woman, I’m A Loser, Can’t Buy Me Love, Baby’s In Black, I Wanna Be Your Man, A Hard Day’s Night, Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby, Rock And Roll Music, I Feel Fine, Ticket To Ride and Long Tall Sally.

The Beatles arrived back in Britain.

Tuesday, 13th July

Recording session for the TV show ‘Pick Of The Songs’ at the Savoy Hotel. This show was broadcast on 15th July (Rediffusion) and featured an interview with Paul McCartney.

Paul turned up late for the Ivor Novello awards, and John didn’t bother going at all.

Monday, 19th July

‘Help!’ single – front cover ReleasedUSA single. Help! Peak position: Billboard – #1; Cashbox – #1; Record World – #1

This was the day that Ringo bought his house in Weybridge for £37,000.

The UK premiere of their second film ‘Help!’, at the London Pavilion, in Piccadilly Circus.

Friday, 30th July

Recording session for the radio show ‘Lance A Gogo’ at the Saville Theatre This show was transmitted on 31st July (BBC Light Programme) and featured interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
