First night of John and Yoko’s ‘You Are Here’ exhibition, at the Robert Fraser Gallery.

Tuesday, 2nd July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (18:00–00:15) during which they recorded Good Night.

Wednesday, 3rd July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (20:00–03:15) during which they recorded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Thursday, 4th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–02:15) during which they recorded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Friday, 5th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (17:00–01:30) during which they recorded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Monday, 8th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (17:00–03:00) during which they recorded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Tuesday, 9th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 3 (16:00–03:30) during which they recorded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da and Revolution.

Wednesday, 10th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 3 (19:00–01:30) during which they recorded Revolution.

Thursday, 11th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 3 (16:00–03:45) during which they recorded Revolution and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Friday, 12th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (15:00–18:45) during which they recorded Don’t Pass Me By.

Saturday, 13th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (00:00–04:00) during which they recorded Revolution.

John went round Aunt Mimi’s house and introduced her to Yoko. She thought it was a wind-up – but he wasn’t.

Monday, 15th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (15:30–03:00) during which they recorded Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da and Cry Baby Cry.

Tuesday, 16th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (16:00–02:00) during which they recorded Cry Baby Cry.

The Beatles engineer, Geoff Emerick, quit, after having it up to here with their constant bickering and sniping. And George was getting pissed off too: “I don’t personally enjoy being a Beatle any more. All that sort of Beatle thing is trivial and unimportant. I’m fed up with all this me, us, I stuff, and all the meaningless things we do. I’m trying to work out solutions to the more important things in life.”

Wednesday, 17th July

All four Beatles attended the UK premiere of ‘Yellow Submarine’ at the London Pavilion, in Piccadilly Circus.

Thursday, 18th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (14:30–21:30) during which they recorded Cry Baby Cry.

A further session took place between 22:30–03:30 in Studio 2 at which they recorded Helter Skelter.

Friday, 19th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:30–04:00) during which they recorded Sexy Sadie.

Saturday, 20th July

Jane Asher appeared on ‘The Simon Dee Show’, and announced that her engagement to Paul was off. Apparently she came home early one day and found Paul in bed with Francie Schwartz, who turned up at Apple to pitch a film script.

Monday, 22nd July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 1 (19:00–01:40) during which they recorded Don’t Pass Me By and Good Night.

Tuesday, 23rd July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–02:30) during which they recorded Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey.

Wednesday, 24th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–02:30) during which they recorded Sexy Sadie.

Thursday, 25th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:15) during which they recorded While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Sunday, 28th July

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:30–03:30) during which they recorded Hey Jude.

Wednesday, 31st July

Recording session at Trident Studios (14:00–04:00) during which they recorded Hey Jude.
