Performance at the Rosebery Street in Liverpool.

The Quarrymen played their first gig down Roseberry Street during the Empire Day Celebrations. They had to stand in the back of an old coal lorry and run leads through the kitchen window. “We didn’t get paid,” said John. “We played at bloke’s parties after that, or weddings, perhaps got a few bob. Mostly we just played for fun.”
