Sometime in mid-October (date unknown) Paul retired to his farmhouse in Scotland and stayed hidden in the wilderness for several months. With Klein rampaging around the Apple office and John’s decision to split, he felt it best to stay in bed. “I was going through a tough period,” he said. “I exhibited all the classic symptoms of the unemployed, the redundant man. First you don’t shave, and it’s not to grow a groovy beard, it’s because you cannot be fucking bothered. Wednesday, 8th October

Recording session for the radio show ‘Scene And Heard’ at the Apple Corps This show was transmitted on 12th October (BBC Radio 1) and featured an interview with George Harrison.

Sunday, 12th October

Yoko’s second miscarriage. It was supposedly brought on by the withdrawal symptoms from a heroin addiction. (John sang about his in ‘Cold Turkey’.) After she was discharged they went for a short little holiday in the Med, where they vowed to kick the habit.

Monday, 20th October

John’s second solo single ‘Cold Turkey’ was released in the US, backed with Yoko’s depressingly titled ‘Don’t Worry Kyoko (Mummy’s Only Looking For A Hand In The Snow)’. They also released a new solo album: ‘The Wedding Album’.

Tuesday, 21st October

Recording session for the radio show ‘Scene And Heard’ at the Apple Corps This show was transmitted on 26th October (BBC Radio 1) and featured an interview with John Lennon.

Wednesday, 22nd October

Allen Klein convinced the Beatles to sell their remaining shares in Northern songs for three and a half million quid.

Thursday, 23rd October

Paul was forced to deny that he was dead. No one believed him. His statement to the press read: “I am alive and well and concerned about the rumours of my death. But, if I were dead, I would be the last to know.”

Friday, 24th October

Recording session for the radio show ‘The World This Weekend’ This show was transmitted on 26th October (BBC Radio 4) and featured an interview with Paul McCartney.

John’s second solo single ‘Cold Turkey’ was released in the UK. Due to the dodgy subject matter and Plastic Ono moniker it didn’t do as well as expected.

Monday, 27th October

Ringo began work on his first solo album, ‘Sentimental Journey’.

Friday, 31st October
