The Beatles arrived back in the UK, and began a six-week break.

Monday, 13th September

‘Yesterday’ single – front cover ReleasedUSA single. Yesterday Peak position: Billboard – #1; Cashbox – #1; Record World – #1

This was the day that Maureen gave birth to Ringo’s first son – and called him Zak. “It was a nice strong name,” said Ringo, ”and can’t be shortened – that was something I didn’t want at all.”

Saturday, 25th September

The Beatles’ Saturday morning cartoon show started showing in the US. This later gave rise to the ‘Yellow Submarine’ movie.
