Tuesday, 3rd September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:30) during which they recorded Revolution.

Ringo came back. Mal smothered his drums with flowers and John put up a couple of ‘Welcome back Ringo’ signs and they had a little kiss and cuddle and made-up. This was also the day that they found out there was an eight-track machine in EMI’s basement, so they sent Dave Harries down to get it, and they almost got him sacked for stealing!

Wednesday, 4th September

Recording session for the TV show ‘Frost On Sunday’ at the Twickenham Studios. This show was broadcast on 8th September (LWT). They played Hey Jude.

Thursday, 5th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:45) during which they recorded While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Friday, 6th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–02:00) during which they recorded While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

There was also a recording session for the TV show ‘Magpie’ at the Apple Corps. This show was broadcast on 10th September (Thames) and featured an interview with Paul McCartney.

Monday, 9th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–02:30) during which they recorded Helter Skelter.

This time George Martin got pissed off with the constant bickering, and decided to go on holiday for three weeks. He didn’t return until the 1st October.

Tuesday, 10th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:00) during which they recorded Helter Skelter.

Wednesday, 11th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:30) during which they recorded Glass Onion.

Thursday, 12th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (20:30–01:30) during which they recorded Glass Onion.

Friday, 13th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (20:00–01:45) during which they recorded Glass Onion.

Monday, 16th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:00) during which they recorded I Will and Glass Onion.

Tuesday, 17th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–05:00) during which they recorded I Will.

Wednesday, 18th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (17:00–05:00) during which they recorded Birthday.

Thursday, 19th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 1&2 (19:15–05:30) during which they recorded Piggies.

Friday, 20th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–23:00) during which they recorded Piggies.

Monday, 23rd September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–03:00) during which they recorded Happiness Is A Warm Gun.

Tuesday, 24th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–02:00) during which they recorded Happiness Is A Warm Gun.

Wednesday, 25th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:30–05:00) during which they recorded Happiness Is A Warm Gun.

Linda spent the night round Paul’s house. This was a big commitment for Linda, because her little kid was back in New York being looked after by friends.

Thursday, 26th September

Recording session at EMI Studios No. 2 (19:00–01:30) during which they recorded Glass Onion.

Friday, 27th September

Despite the tensions within the band, the party atmosphere at Apple HQ was still very much in full-swing, as Pete Shotton fondly recalled.

Saturday, 28th September

Recording session at Trident Studios (17:00–07:00) during which they recorded Dear Prudence.

Sunday, 29th September

Recording session at Trident Studios (19:00–06:00) during which they recorded Dear Prudence.

Monday, 30th September

Hunter Davies biography on The Beatles, called ‘The Beatles’, was published in the UK.
