This was just another cynical marketing ploy by Vee-Jay to get a bit more mileage out of their back catalogue.

Their licence to release Beatles’ songs was due to run out at the end of October, so they started selling everything they had in different packages. This one was a combination of ‘Introducing The Beatles’ and The Four Seasons’ ‘Golden Hits’ LP. The punters were then invited to vote for the winner by using the scorecard on the back cover.

Their original idea was to release a just single set of songs – half Beatles and half Four Seasons. But the deal hammered out in the court-case forbade them from releasing a new set of Beatles’ songs. They could only release the same set of songs as listed on their debut LP.
