They recorded this on the 24th November, just one day after the classic Pepper track ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’.

This disc was a bit more ambitious than their previous efforts as it took the form of a Tony Barrow panto, intermingled with snippets of a new song called ‘Everywhere It’s Christmas’.

The plot is a litle bizarre to say the least, starting off with Ringo setting the scene: “On the veranda is a bearded man in glasses conducting a small choir.” Much wind and yodelling follows, before “two elderly Scotsmen munch on a rare cheese.” We are then treated to a short song called ‘A Rare Cheese’, and after a big feast the scene shifts to the HMS Tremendous, where the boys are giving ‘The Loyal Toast’ to the Queen.

Their American fan-club continued to short-change the fans by dispensing with the psychedelic sleeve, and sticking the flexi-disc on the back of a sorry-looking postcard.
