The incredible success of The Beatles is the most important event in popular music since Elvis Presley. The ecstatic response of teenagers to The Beatles music has opened the floodgates to an unending flow of hit recordings and hit singing groups from overseas. Known variously as the English Sound, the Liverpool Sound, or the Mersey Beat, this music has dominated our record scene for many months. Sometimes it almost seems all that is necessary to become a hit singing group is to hail from England (preferably the Liverpool area), adopt a style of dress introduced by Lord Fauntleroy, and have no contact with the barbers whatsoever. But these things are only the frosting on the cake. Beneath The Beatles highly distinctive appearance are truly extraordinary talents.

The Beatles created the sound of today – a sound which is unmistakably theirs, and which has inspired countless other successful groups. The impact of The Beatles has been so enormous that teenagers have learned the words to every song in The Beatles repertoire by heart. Among the many international hit recordings produced by The Beatles Ain’t She Sweet ranks high. As a single, the recording became one of America’s best-selling records.

The Beatles have been lauded time and time again for the excitement, the freshness, the vitality of their singing. Yet, no one should overlook an equally important contribution – the great songs that have written. In this album another well-known English group, The Swallows are feature in a number of tunes written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles. Some of them were initially made famous by The Beatles’ recordings of the tunes. I Want To Hold Your Hand, Please Please Me, She Loves You, I Wanna Be Your Man, From Me To You. How Do You Do It became a hit through the famous version by Gerry and The Pacemakers and Billy J Kramer had an enormous hit with I’ll Keep You Satisifed. Without the phenomenon of The Beatles the sound of music today would indeed be very different.
