1964 will go down in history as The Year Of The Beatles.

This was the year when four Beatle-browed young Britons ripped into the American popular music scene and established themselves as top cats. Their curious haircuts became the national rage. Their music swamped the air.

They were seen sending the good citizens of their teen age in England on staid Wakter Cronkite’s CBS-TV newscast. They were viewed by spellbound millions here as they lived the Liverpool sound for their fans on the top-rated Huntley-Brinkley newscast on NBC-TV.

Jack Parr showed their antics on his show. Ed Sullivan immediately signed them for successive appearances on his show.

The Beatles had arrived!

When they came to these shores, they left their native England a shambles. Their personal appearances were sellouts and scenes of pandemonium. Not since the heyday of Elvis has there been such mass hysteria. Their records sold so fast that, in one short year, The Beatles sizzled to the top of every popularity poll in England, and their records landed at the top of the annual bestseller lists compiled by the music news magazines.

The Beatles had arrived!

Young people in England, Scotland, Wales, and parts of Ireland began cutting their hair like The Beatles. Even girls. Reports from Australia and New Zealand arrived showing that The Beatles have had the same effect Down Under. Young people are cutting their hair straight across the forehead, and swarming to their record shops to pick up the latest from The Beatles.

And now they’ve arrived in America!

MGM Records proudly presents The Beatles with the fabulous new singing rage, Tony Sheridan, in a program of favourites that just cannot be described. In addition, The Titans, a group musically related to their English cousins, keep things simmering between takes.

Tony Sheridan, like The Beatles, is extremely popular in England and on the continent. He’s in his early 20s and plays guitar as well as he sings. He and The Beatles have shared many a stage together, and it is with great pleasure that they share this remarkable MGM Records album with each other and with the rocking, socking Titans.

It’s time now to listen to what all the shouting’s been about. Hear The Beatles and know that it will be The Year Of The Beatles for a long, long time.
