This one has a stackful of records… It was Britain’s first-ever million-seller, and the biggest-selling single of 1963 (and remains their highest-ever seller in the UK); it charted for longer than any other British single (staying in the Top 40 for an incredible 31 weeks), and it was the highest-selling single for 14 years until ‘Mull Of Kintyre’ overtook it.

UK vinyl single (Re-release) She Loves You b/w I’ll Get You

  • Label: Parlophone R 5055 MONO
  • Released: 8th March 1976

On the 6th February 1976 The Beatles contract with EMI expired, freeing up the company to do whatever they liked with their back catalogue. And they didn’t waste any time… their first move was to re-release EVERY single that they’d ever ever made.

Technically speaking they weren’t re-releases at all, because they had never been deleted and still had the same catalogue numbers as the originals. They were more like re-issues.

The entire set of 22 singles was augmented by one brand-new one (‘Yesterday’) and released on the same day, so at one point all 23 of them were in the top 100 at the same time – in the top fifty!
