The Beatles -- ‘No Reply’

5-star review  from  Jag

The melodic verses and simple acoustic back-up reveal the beautiful and eloquent songwriting of the Beatles. Contasted by the chorus that musically matches the lyrics and breaks through the earlier politeness of the verses to reveal the deep emotionality of the verse "i saw the light, No Reply, I nearly died" is accentuated by the crash of the cymbals of the drums. Dashed by the sight of his girl with another man, then on to another polite verse.

I thought the bridge was less interesting, but John’s style of a the big emotional release in the chorus makes this song a winner and an unmistakable John Lennon piece.

One of my all time favorites.
