To be quite honest there is not a lot the Beatles do that disagrees with me, like so many people this album was so ground breaking, and mr Harrison’s trip to india really opened up new avenues in his style of play, especially his use of the sitar so prominent on this track. I certainly don’t profess to be a great orator in the spoken word or the written word, but I like what I know, and I know what I like, and I certainly like this track, it did of course lead to more tracks on future albums and in fact singles, non of which could be classed as a bad one. Great stuff George.

Not a big fan of this song. I love George, and some of his later songs were absolutely fantastic, but his early indian ones I thought were poor. I think I’m right in saying that he was trying to emulate a certain style of indian song where they, for want of a better description, just drone along on the same note. So maybe he did a faithful reproduction. But they don’t sit well on a Beatles album because there’s not a lot of melody and tune.

Sgt. Peppers is a very jaunty record, with lots of fun and bouncy tunes, and this is just stuck there slap bang in the middle and brings the whole thing to a temporary halt.

Sorry George, I love you, really I do, but I don’t rate this one much.
