John Lennon: Lead vocal, guitar; Guitar: Eric Griffiths; Banjo: Rod Davis; Tea-chest bass: Len Garry; Washboard: Pete Shotton; Drums: Colin Hanton

This was recorded at Woolton Parish Fete, the same day that John met Paul. Bob Molyneux recorded it on a portable Grundig and later sold it at Sotheby’s for £78,500. The entire tape lasts for four minutes and includes one other song – ‘Puttin’ On The Style’.

One interesting little fact about this song is that John later nicked a couple of the lines for the ‘Rubber Soul’ track ‘Run For Your Life’ – the bit where he goes “I’d rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man.”
