They did this for ‘Pop Go The Beatles’ in July ’63.

“It was written about the daughter of a companion of Clyde McPhatter, whom I met at the Paramount Theatre in Manhattan,” said Chuck Berry. “Discussing her teenage environment was much help in putting ‘Carol’ together. Details from my schooling like meat-loaf and potatoes costing 5 cents each and a notebook with paper for 12 cents were far outdated. Whereas some guy stealing another boy’s girl was a thing that hadn’t changed any. Boys will still be boys, especially when it comes to girls.”
