The Beatles -- ‘Dont Pass Me By’

Don’t Pass Me By (3.50)

Ringo Starr: Lead vocal, piano, drums, sleigh bell; John Lennon: Acoustic guitar; Paul McCartney: Bass guitar; Violin: Jack Fallon

When they started doing this in 1968 they were calling it ‘Ringo’s Tune’ and ‘This Is Some Friendly’, which was a bit strange, because he’d been banging on about it since 1964! You can hear him mentioning it in their old press interviews, desperately begging them to sing it. In one interview John and Paul obliged, and Ringo gushed: “It was written as a country and western, but Paul and John singing it with that blues feeling has really knocked me out. Are The Beatles going to record it? I don’t know. I keep trying to push it on them every time we make a record. But every time I play it to the lads, they just laugh.”
