The Beatles -- ‘Flying’

Instrumental Flying (2.17)

John Lennon: Organ, mellotron, chanting; Paul McCartney: Chanting; George Harrison: Guitar, chanting; Ringo Starr: Drums, maracas, chanting;

This was the first song to be credited to all four Beatles, and it’s the only instrumental in their entire catalogue. (Although a second one has since been released on ‘Anthology 2’‘12-Bar Original’.

The song was originally going to be called ‘Aerial Tour Instrumental’ after a scene in the ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ movie where the bus takes off and flies through the sky. But this scene was swapped out for a scenic piece and the title was dropped.

Bootleg copies reveal that there was originally a Dixieland jazz section stapled to the end.
