Depending on your point of view, this is either the Rosetta stone of Beatles’ lyrics or a collection of made-up clues to a non-existent riddle. So, which is it? The answer lies in the title… because what happens when you peel away the layers of an onion? You end up with fuck-all! As soon as John found out that people were reading meanings into his lyrics, he got a perverse kind of pleasure in putting them off the scent.
