The Beatles -- ‘Hey Bulldog’

Hey Bulldog (3.14)

John Lennon: Double-tracked lead vocal, lead guitar, piano; Paul McCartney: Harmony vocal, bass guitar; George Harrison: Lead guitar; Ringo Starr: Drums, tambourine;

The Beatles had promised United Artists four new songs for the ‘Yellow Submarine’ soundtrack, but ended up using one of them on the back of ‘All You Need Is Love’‘Baby, You’re A Rich Man’. Time was pressing and United were itching for another, so John rattled off a new one.

They were supposed to be filming a promo for ‘Lady Madonna’ at the time, but ended up filming this instead. So the promo for ‘Lady Madonna’ is actually a film of them doing ‘Hey Bulldog’.

Interestingly, the bulldog was originally going to be a bullfrog, but Paul started barking at the end and they re-named it. (You’ll notice that a bulldog is never mentioned in the lyrics, but a bullfrog is.)
