The Beatles -- ‘I'm Down’

I’m Down (2.32)

Paul McCartney: Lead vocal, bass guitar; John Lennon: Backing vocal, rhythm guitar; George Harrison: Backing vocal, lead guitar; Ringo Starr: Drums, bongos;

This was Paul’s attempt at writing a Little Richard rocker, and went on to replace ‘Long Tall Sally’ at the end of their live-shows.

Some people say that it was written as a cheeky piss-take of Lennon’s ‘Help!’.

When you consider the ferocity that Paul delivers the vocal, it’s amazing to think that the same session saw him switch tack and sing the classic ballad ‘Yesterday’.
