The Beatles -- ‘In Spite Of All The Danger’

Home recording In Spite Of All The Danger (2.45)

John Lennon: Lead vocal, rhythm guitar; Paul McCartney: Bass guitar; George Harrison: Lead guitar; Piano: John Lowe; Drums: Colin Hanton

This was recorded round Percy Phillips’ house in March ’58. He had a little record-maker in his back-room and charged all the local bands a quid to cut a disc. The ended up doing Buddy Holly’s ‘That’ll Be The Day’ and this Paul McCartney/George Harrison original – ‘In Spite Of All The Danger’.

An edited version has now been made available on ‘Anthology 1’. The original runs on to 3:25, a full 40 seconds longer than the commercial version.
