The Beatles -- ‘Maggie Mae’

Maggie Mae (0.41)

John Lennon: Lead vocal, acoustic guitar; Paul McCartney: Harmony vocal, acoustic guitar; George Harrison: Bass guitar; Ringo Starr: Drums;

This is a snippet of on an old sea-shanty about a local Liverpool whore who led sailors down an alley and then ran off with all their money. John can be heard forgetting the words halfway through, but the original line goes like this: “I was paid off at the pool, in the port of Liverpool/Three pounds ten a week, that was my pay/With a bucket full of tin, I was very taken in, by a girl called Maggie Mae.”

It was recorded at the same time as ‘Two Of Us’.
