German language version of ‘She Loves You’ Sie Liebt Dich (2.19)

The German arm of EMI was convinced that the only way they were going to shift Beatles records in the Fatherland was for them to re-record them in German. The Beatles hated the idea but George Martin managed to badger them into giving it a go.

The Beatles weren’t entirely new to German of course, because they’d spent a considerable part of their youth entertaining the locals in Hamburg. But when it came to the recording date the band were nowhere to be seen.
