The Beatles -- ‘Thank You Girl’

Thank You Girl (2.05)

John Lennon: Lead vocal, acoustic guitar, harmonica; Paul McCartney: Lead vocal, bass guitar; George Harrison: Lead guitar; Ringo Starr: Drums;

The lyrics for this are in the form of a thankyou letter to their fans – to thank them for buying all their records and coming to the shows.

The Beatles were always very grateful to their fans, and his chauffeur remembers a time when he was driving John around in his Rolls-Royce and the fans started mobbing up and banging it to see if they could get a kiss. “Don’t worry,” he said. “They bought the car… They’ve got a right to smash it up.”

The American version that appears on ‘The Beatles’ Second Album’ (but not the one on the single) contains an extra harmonica part not heard in the British version.
