The Beatles -- ‘The Fool On The Hill’

The Fool On The Hill (3.00)

Paul McCartney: Lead vocal, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, recorder; John Lennon: Harmonica, jew’s harp; George Harrison: Acoustic guitar, harmonica; Ringo Starr: Drums, maracas, finger cymbals; Flute: Christopher Taylor, Richard Taylor, Jack Ellory

Paul got the idea for this whilst he was walking his dog on Primrose Hill with Alistair Taylor. As they were coming over the hill a man in a raincoat appeared out of nowhere and said “What a wonderful view!” Paul very briefly looked away, and when he turned back round again he’d completely disappeared.

Alistair Taylor remembered: “We both felt a weird sensation that something special had happened. We sat down rather shakily on the seat and Paul said ‘What the hell did you make of that? He was there, wasn’t he? We did speak to him?’”

Normally you’d just blame it on the drugs, but apparently they’d only had a cup of tea and a couple of whiskeys.
