The first time they attempted this was on the 5th March 1963, at the same session as ‘From Me To You’, but they didn’t like it very much and dumped it in the cupboard. Two years later they pulled it out of cold storage and give it to Ringo to sing. With the deadline for ‘Rubber Soul’ looming closer every day they quickly knocked off a new middle-eight, earning Ringo his first-ever composer credit.
